Physical fitness is not something that came naturally to me. As a kid, I was overweight and asthmatic with a multitude of allergies that kept me from being active. As I like to say, I didn’t play any sports in school but I played a lot of music for the sports teams! I was fairly shy and introverted and wanted to find a way to increase my confidence and break out of my shell. So, I started working out in an attempt to improve physically. That didn’t go so smoothly.
What followed were years of trial and much error trying out different “popular” or “standard” workouts, all to little or no result. It was only when I ditched the traditional routines that I learned to listen to my own body and really understand what would and would not work for it. From there, I was able to adapt exercises to get the maximum benefit from them and I was finally able to see results. Today, I am not only a certified personal trainer, but also hold specializations in corrective exercise and in weight loss, able to create workout programs for people with physical limitations due to injury or illness.
Finding out what works for each client remains the basis for my approach to training. Too often today, people end up doing generic workouts that were designed by trainers who may have been naturally athletic and thus unaware of the struggle the average woman or man can go through when trying to affect change in their body. But I am proof that change is possible no matter your background or experience. Together, we can get you moving in the right direction!
